When looking for a way to jumpstart your spring style, eyelet does just the trick! In its most common form, this spring/summer classic, is a traditional, breezy, and light weight cotton fabric that has a natural “air-conditioning” characteristic. The name “Eyelet” comes from the cutouts in the fabric which are finished with embroidered edges. "Eyelet" describes the design of the fabric rather than its fiber content. Although most commonly made from cotton or linen, it can also be made of silk and even leather!

When it comes to styling with eyelet the endless possibilities depend on the looks you want to achieve and are all about balance. It can be worn for business casual when paired with a blazer creating the perfect balance of romantic and edgy. It is also great on date night for a sweet and sexy look. Black or white styles paired with a pop color statement bag and some fun heels will give you that perfect mix of sweet boldness this spring. Whether going for dramatic, sweet-n-sexy, or even sporty, styling with eyelet allows a variety of options.

Spring 2019 runway looks are giving us "church girl" vibes! Delicate eyelet fabric is paired exuberantly with ruffles for a youthful look down the runway in Alberta Ferretti’s Spring 2019 Ready-to-wear collection. The use of pastel colors and bohemian patterned cutouts in eyelet blouses, pants, and dresses give a more modern take on this classic fabric. Whereas, in Alexander McQueen’s collection, eyelet detail is given an "edge" on the hems of oversized blouses and full length dresses for all over drama. Overall, this years’ spring / summer runway looks prove that ruffles and eyelet are a match made in heaven!
