Hey Ladies!!

I’m back again with some new insight for ya!! If you can’t tell, ya girl is supa excited to share this one. So in the last post I discussed the growing trend of Unisex Fragrances and the importance of having an inclusive scent. Now if you ain’t know, another growing trend is the use of Essential Oils as personal scents; which is truly a beautiful thing! Mmhmm…

Get this; it’s said that the naturally diluted oils are better for you and your body due to the fact they don’t have the unknown ingredients that most perfumes have. The oils are also a more natural way to make yourself smell good and feel good with organic ingredients.

There are various scents that can be mixed to create your very own perfume. Some oils that blend beautifully together are lavender, ylang ylang, cedarwood, and bergamot for a great floral scent. Mixing honeysuckle, lavender, and vetiver creates a scent that will remind you of an ocean breeze. For a calming scent you can mix sandalwood, lavender, clove, and vetiver. Combining vanilla, peppermint, and eucalyptus create a sweet scent. Blending jasmine, brown sugar, and patchouli will create an earthy scent. Overall, it is a personalized way to create a unique scent just for you, which is always a double plus!

The practice of using Essential oils for aromatherapy is another major growing trend. Aromatherapy is a type of alternative medicine practice utilizing fragrant essential oils that are derived from a wide variety of healing plants. The essential oils are said to be a natural alternative to medicine, being used to treat stress, depression, manage pain, soothe joints.

Essential Oil Diffuser

Aromatherapy works through smell and skin absorption. Most people use diffusers, aromatherapy oil candles, apply natural products containing oils or creams to their skin, facial steamers, and also adding the oils directly to a soaking bath or while they are taking a warm shower.

Check out some of the below essential oils and their reported benefits:

Lemon oil: Diluted lemon oil can be wonderfully effective when it comes to skin care because of its high concentration of D-limonene, a compound that assists in diminishing the appearance of wrinkles, promoting circulation, and toning the skin. In fact, recent research showed that D-limonene has skin-repairing and anti-inflammatory properties.

The scent of lemon oil has also been shown to have a powerful effect on mood. One study’s findings suggest that lemon oil vapor has antidepressant qualities and could help boost ones moods.

Cinnamon oil: cinnamon essential oil can be used to help clear up chest colds. Applied topically, it can soothe muscle aches and pains, thanks to its antispasmodic and analgesic properties. It’s also an antiseptic and makes a powerful natural preservative. It is both antibacterial and antimicrobial, as well as being anti-inflammatory, and pain-relieving.

Lavender oil: Known to be sedative, antispasmodic, anti-anxiety, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant, antibacterial, anesthetic, immune-boosting, and even antiviral.

Tea Tree Oil: Tea tree oil is antiviral and anti-inflammatory. It kills oral bacteria for up to two weeks, can be used for gingivitis, and can also heal mild to moderate dandruff.

Eucalyptus oil: It works as a pesticide and has the ability to kill fungi, bacteria, insects, mites, and weeds. It could also help boost your immune system and is anti-inflammatory.

Sweet Orange Oil: Said to reduce anxiety when it was inhaled, and when applied topically, it slowed down ones pulse rates and breathing rates, while they also reported feeling more cheerful and vigorous.

Aromatherapy at first seems like a way to treat yourself, but it has been said to improve short-term health issues. Ya girl just might have to add this into her everyday living.
